America First: Why We Must End the Ukraine Grift and Rebuild Our Own Nation

By Judd Dunning – Newsmax columnist, radio host and author

The Real Question: Why Is Anyone Shocked?

Trump told us exactly what he was going to do. From day one, he made it clear: “We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer.” The idea that America should endlessly fund foreign wars while our own country is crumbling? That’s the lie we’ve been sold for decades, and it’s time to break free from it.

The reality is simple: America’s government, media, and corporate class have been running a Ukraine money laundering scheme while ignoring our very real domestic crises. This war has become an excuse to drain taxpayer funds, enrich global elites, and sustain the military-industrial complex—all while ignoring the needs of the American people.

The Ukraine Money Pit: A Scam on the American Taxpayer

Let’s start with the hard numbers. Since 2022, the U.S. has poured over $113 billion into Ukraine—more than most NATO countries spend on their own defense. And while America bankrolls this war, Europe sits back, refusing to frack, cut their bloated welfare states, or increase defense spending. Instead, they rely on us to pay the tab while they lecture us on global responsibility.

Victor Davis Hanson lays it out clearly: Europe enjoys the benefits of U.S. protection, our market access, and our military dominance—all without paying their fair share. The European Union enjoys a $160 billion trade surplus with America, all while dodging responsibility for their own backyard.

Meanwhile, what do we get? Crumbling roads, a $34 trillion national debt, 500,000+ homeless Americans, and an opioid crisis so severe that fentanyl overdoses are now the leading cause of death for adults aged 18-45. America is being looted, and Ukraine is just one of many excuses.

Zelenskyy’s Never-Ending Demands: When Is Enough Enough?

Zelenskyy has mastered the art of international welfare dependency. In a recent interview, he stated: “Europe is ready to help us with financing a big army… now we want new support from the United States, with all due respect, again.”

Again? What about the $113 billion we already sent? What about the fact that the Pentagon admits it has lost track of at least $20 billion in aid? Ukraine has become a black hole for American taxpayer money, yet the establishment demands we keep writing blank checks.

And let’s not forget the authoritarian shift happening in Kyiv. While demanding money in the name of democracy, Zelenskyy has suspended elections, banned opposition parties, restricted free speech, and jailed political opponents. This isn’t about democracy—it’s about power and profit.

War Profiteering: The Deep State and Corporate Elites Cashing In

The real game isn’t about “freedom” or “sovereignty.” It’s about money. BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street—some of the most powerful financial institutions in the world—are already setting up for a post-war reconstruction payday. This isn’t speculation—it’s fact. Ukraine is a business opportunity, and those closest to the money pipeline will profit handsomely.

We’ve seen this before. The same players who lied us into Iraq, destabilized Libya, and kept us in Afghanistan for 20 years are now demanding we stay the course in Ukraine.

As I wrote in An Ass-Kicking Machine:

“America holds the world’s largest Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. We have the world’s most advanced Army. Our military might is unmatched. But our leaders have used it recklessly, often in service of interests that do not align with the American people.”

Enough is enough. America’s military should defend America first, not be an ATM for globalist schemes.

What Could We Have Done With That $113 Billion?

The cost of this war isn’t just measured in dollars—it’s measured in what we could have done instead. With that money, we could have:

• Built 500,000 new homes to solve homelessness.

• Revamped America’s entire crumbling infrastructure—roads, bridges, and rail systems.

• Secured the southern border and ended the flood of fentanyl into our communities.

• Invested in American energy independence instead of propping up European reliance on Russian gas.

Instead, we’re burning through billions for a war that doesn’t advance American interests in any way. Why? Because the grift is too profitable for those in power.

Trump’s Realignment: No More Endless Wars, But A Stronger Ukraine

Zelenskyy’s biggest mistake? He thought Trump was Biden. He thought he could talk down to him, demand more money, and get away with it.

But Trump isn’t a clueless puppet. He sees the game for what it is. Victor Davis Hanson lays it out:

• Ukraine is already better armed than most NATO countries—yet it will never be in NATO.

• America will never supply Ukraine with the firepower needed to take Crimea or the Donbas.

• A demilitarized zone and economic corridor are the only real solutions.

But here’s the darker reality: Ukraine is now one of the most heavily armed non-NATO nations in the world, because of U.S. intervention. Just like Afghanistan in the 1980s, once the war is settled, Ukraine will remain a military powerhouse for decades to come, stocked with American military equipment.

Russia now knows that any future invasion will be brutally costly. Just like the Soviet failure in Afghanistan, Russia has no easy path forward. They should be grateful to settle now, withdraw, and let life return to normal.

It’s Time to Rebuild America

We’ve already given Ukraine everything short of NATO membership and nuclear weapons. The deep state, corporate elites, and media class have cashed in on war profiteering while everyday Americans suffer.

As National Review once opined:

“The Nobel Peace Prize should go to the U.S. Secretary of Defense every year. The American military is the number-one guarantor of peace in the world.” – Jay Nordlinger

America has spent decades cleaning up the world while our own country falls apart. It’s time to pull the plug. No more blank checks. No more endless wars.

Trump’s blunt honesty in exposing the military-industrial complex’s agenda is exactly why he was elected.

It’s time to stop funding foreign grifts and start rebuilding America.
